This UNESCO-recognized temple was built by the Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I around 1010 AD and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Later visit the historic Thanjavur Maratha Palace, which houses several attractions including the Saraswathi Mahal Library, art gallery, and museum displaying ancient sculptures and royal artifacts.
